The beauty to this piece really comes from modifying it further. You'll definitely want to get some heat reflecting wrap around the metal parts, and if you're really looking for performance either for autocross, rallycross, stage rally, or just some real trackday performance, consider getting some aluminum sheeting and bolts to make an air foil to throw cold air into it from below. Baby's first aero. You're half way to getting hired by a Formula 1 team already.

The advantage to this short ram over a traditional cold air intake is that the total distance it has to draw air only about 4-5 inches, versus 24-36 inches in a cold air. This means faster throttle response and low end performance. It does start to drop off at the higher revs, but heat reflective wrap will help this, and some basic aero under the car will prevent this entirely. With some real planning and effort, I believe this is superior to a CAI. Faster throttle response, significantly lighter, more reliable in inclement weather, and with further mods has equal gains across the spectrum.

I recommend this for any focus driver! I just got it in the mail today,I installed it and I'm stoked! It's loud but not to loud and it has amazing pick up and speed. I didn't think it would make much of a difference but boy was I wrong!!!! Love my car more now,and I didn't think that was possible. But thanks to the steeda cold air intake I do! Install was easy and simple.

The short ram intake was easy to install and only took me about 45 minutes total. The longest part was removing the stock air intake. Now my car sounds better, looks better under the hood, and performs better. I believe the stock intake was actually stifling my engine. I look forward to running my new exhaust in the future.

The first addition to the '06 hatchback. Snappy throttle response, cool sucking noise from under the hood. Livens up the Duratec. Recommend to any focus owner looking for a little more from under the hood.

This is the best sri for a Duratech focus. Works great in rain & you don't have to deal w/ rain soaked filters

Bought this baby for my 07 hatch, it really makes a difference! The drivability is improved, it gives it the extra get up and go that youv'e been wanting. It helps the car climb hills easier and I noticed a 3-4 mpg average gain. The other good thing about this CAI is that when you polish it up with some wheel polish it shines when you pop the hood open. Add this with a muffler and an SCT tune and the car will preform so much better than you expected. The only down side is the rubber around the edges of the metal plates holding in the intake do crack after awhile but a 5 dollar trip to the local hardware store will fix it up again. But I would get this if your looking for an easy way to give your car some umfff

Ive had the short ram for about three years now (due for a cleaning!) Installing was very easy. Time consuming part is removing the factory assembly. From the first time I turned the key, I loved that extra sound coming from under the hood! Sounding like forced air. First dirve after the ecu figured out where to idle. It was noticable the small extra pep in the throttle response. If your car has "cruise control", it will be a very snug fit. Intructions show a foci with cruise and therefore plenty of room from the pictures.
